Ana, a Mexican-American teenager, is about to become a woman. She lives in the Hispanic community of East Los Angeles, and just after finishing high school, her teacher encourages her to apply for a scholarship to study at Columbia University. But his traditional parents think that it is not time to study, but to help his family. Torn between her personal ambitions and her cultural tradition, she agrees to work with her mother at her sister's sewing factory in downtown Los Angeles. (FILMAFFINITY)
