Synopsis:
Accused of an act of disobedience that had fatal consequences, the revered General Irwin (Robert Reford), a war hero, is court-martialed, demoted, and locked up in a military prison known as "The Fortress." There, he soon becomes the target of the warden, Colonel Winter (James Gandolfini), a man with an authoritarian character who begins to feel self-conscious about Irwin's charisma with the inmates.
