Synopsis
In some remote corner of Eastern Europe, a mere local superstition germinated, grew and rose to the status of legend. Germanic culture incorporated the vampire into literature, but it was in the British Isles where the myth took on the clothing that makes its figure recognizable. From Polidori to Bram Stocker, the creator of Dracula, this volume collects the most representative samples of the authors who, throughout the 19th century, set the character of the vampire on disturbing pages, repeatedly treated later by narrative and cinema, perhaps because, even in our technified society, collective subconscious, that spectacular being continues to exist.
